How to use?
Take the medicine undiluted.

Duration of use?
Without medical advice, you should only use the medicine for a few days and not in increased doses. If you have a high temperature, signs of a secondary infection or if the symptoms persist for more than 3 days, you must consult a doctor.

Overdose?
As the medicine is made up of different active ingredients, a variety of overdose symptoms can occur, including vomiting and confusion. Progressive liver damage may occur on the 2nd day and hepatic coma on the 3rd day. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

Have you forgotten to take it?
Continue taking the medicine as normal (i.e. not double the amount) at the next prescribed time.

As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.

A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information on the package leaflet. As the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

How do the ingredients of the medicine work?

Doxylamine: The active ingredient blocks receptors for a specific messenger substance called histamine. This blockade suppresses histamine-induced vasodilation and increased blood flow in the smallest blood vessels (capillaries). It also has a calming effect via the same mechanism.

Dextromethorphan: The active ingredient quenches the urge to cough by paralyzing the cough center in the brain. However, to prevent mucus from building up in the airways, the substance is only suitable if the cough is completely dry. Anyone who overdoses on the substance runs the risk of provoking a blockage in the airways or finding it difficult to breathe.

Paracetamol: The active ingredient has an analgesic and antipyretic effect. It also has mild anti-inflammatory properties. It blocks the formation of certain messenger substances in the body, known as prostaglandins. These are significantly involved in the development of pain, fever and inflammation.

What speaks against an application?

Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- epilepsy
- Brain damage
- Bronchial asthma
- Chronic obstructive airway disease (chronic airway disease with a narrowing of the airways)
- Respiratory weakness up to respiratory paralysis
- Pneumonia
- heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Thyroid disease
- Increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma), especially narrow-angle glaucoma
- Pheochromocytoma (adrenaline-producing tumor)
- Prostate enlargement with residual urine formation

Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist about this:
- Reflux esophagitis (reflux disease with inflammation of the esophagus)
- Impaired kidney function
- Impaired liver function
- Gilbert's syndrome (Meulengracht's disease)
- Diabetes mellitus (diabetes)

Which age group should be considered?
- Children under 16 years of age: The medicine must not be used.

What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: The medicinal product must not be used.
- Lactation: The medicine must not be used.

If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk associated with the use of a contraindication.

What should you bear in mind?
- The ability to react may be impaired even when used as intended, especially in higher doses or in combination with alcohol. Pay particular attention if you are driving or operating machinery (including household machinery) that could injure you.
- The habitual use of painkillers can lead to permanent kidney damage. If several painkillers are combined or if one painkiller contains several active ingredients, the risk of this increases.
- Caution: Regular or heavy alcohol consumption can lead to life-threatening conditions due to any existing liver damage if the medication is also used.
- Caution with allergies to painkillers!

- Caution in case of allergy to dyes (e.g. quinoline yellow with the E number E 104)!
- The medicine contains alcohol and therefore poses a risk to people with liver disease, alcoholics, epileptics, brain damage, pregnant women, nursing mothers and children.
- Take care if you are intolerant to sucrose. If you have to follow a diabetic diet, you should take the sugar content into account.
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicine you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.

Wie wirken die Inhaltsstoffe des Arzneimittels?

Paracetamol: Der Wirkstoff wirkt schmerzstillend und fiebersenkend. Er weist zudem geringe entzündungshemmende Eigenschaften auf. Er blockiert die Bildung bestimmter Botenstoffe im Körper, so genannter Prostaglandine. Diese sind an der Entstehung von Schmerzen, Fieber und Entzündungen wesentlich beteiligt.

Dextromethorphan: Der Wirkstoff stillt den Hustenreiz, indem er das Hustenzentrum im Gehirn lahm legt. Damit sich kein Schleim in den Atemwegen staut, eignet sich die Substanz aber nur, wenn der Husten vollkommen trocken ist. Wer den Stoff überdosiert, läuft Gefahr, eine Verstopfung der Atemwege zu provozieren oder nur noch schwer atmen zu können.

Doxylamin: Der Wirkstoff blockiert Rezeptoren für den Botenstoff Histamin. Über diese Blockade unterdrückt er eine durch das Histamin ausgelöste Gefäßerweiterung und vermehrte Durchblutung kleinster Blutgefäße (Kapillaren). Außerdem wirkt er über denselben Mechanismus beruhigend.

Was spricht gegen eine Anwendung?

- Überempfindlichkeit gegen die Inhaltsstoffe
- Asthma bronchiale
- Chronisch obstruktive Atemwegserkrankung (chronische Atemwegserkrankung mit einer Verengung der Atemwege)
- Lungenentzündung
- Atemschwäche bis hin zur Atemlähmung
- Erhöhter Augeninnendruck (Glaukom), insbesondere Engwinkelglaukom
- Stark eingeschränkte Leberfunktion
- Stark eingeschränkte Nierenfunktion
- Phäochromocytom (Adrenalin produzierender Tumor)
- Prostatavergrößerung mit Restharnbildung
- Epilepsie
- Hirnschäden
- Bluthochdruck
- Herzerkrankungen
- Schilddrüsenerkrankungen

Unter Umständen - sprechen Sie hierzu mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker:
- Gilbert-Syndrom (Meulengracht-Krankheit)
- Refluxösophagitis (Refluxkrankheit mit Entzündung der Speiseröhre)

Welche Altersgruppe ist zu beachten?
- Kinder unter 16 Jahren: Das Arzneimittel darf nicht angewendet werden.
- Ältere Patienten: Das Arzneimittel ist mit besonderer Vorsicht anzuwenden.

Was ist mit Schwangerschaft und Stillzeit?
- Schwangerschaft: Das Arzneimittel darf nicht angewendet werden.
- Stillzeit: Das Arzneimittel darf nicht angewendet werden.

Ist Ihnen das Arzneimittel trotz einer Gegenanzeige verordnet worden, sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker. Der therapeutische Nutzen kann höher sein, als das Risiko, das die Anwendung bei einer Gegenanzeige in sich birgt.

Welche unerwünschten Wirkungen können auftreten?

Für das Arzneimittel sind nur Nebenwirkungen beschrieben, die bisher nur in Ausnahmefällen aufgetreten sind.

Bemerken Sie eine Befindlichkeitsstörung oder Veränderung während der Behandlung, wenden Sie sich an Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker.

Was sollten Sie beachten?
- Vorsicht: Das Reaktionsvermögen kann auch bei bestimmungsgemäßem Gebrauch beeinträchtigt sein. Achten Sie vor allem darauf, wenn Sie am Straßenverkehr teilnehmen oder Maschinen (auch im Haushalt) bedienen, mit denen Sie sich verletzen können.
- Vorsicht: Vermeiden Sie die Einnahme von Alkohol.
- Vorsicht: Patienten mit Engwinkelglaukom haben ein erhöhtes Risiko - besonderes im akuten Anfall.
- Vermeiden Sie übermäßige UV-Strahlung, z.B. in Solarien oder bei ausgedehnten Sonnenbädern, weil die Haut während der Anwendung des Arzneimittels empfindlicher reagiert.
- Die gewohnheitsmäßige Anwendung von Schmerzmitteln kann zu einer dauerhaften Nierenschädigung führen. Werden mehrere Schmerzmittel kombiniert, oder sind in einem Schmerzmittel mehrere Wirkstoffe enthalten, erhöht sich das Risiko dafür.
- Achtung: Bei regelmäßigem bzw. hohem Alkoholgenuss kann es durch eine evtl. schon bestehende Leberschädigung zu lebensbedrohlichen Zuständen kommen, wenn das Arzneimittel noch zusätzlich angewendet wird.
- Dieses Arzneimittel enthält Stoffe, die unter Umständen als Dopingstoffe eingeordnet werden können. Fragen Sie dazu Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker.
- Vorsicht bei Allergie gegen Schmerzmittel!
- Vorsicht bei Allergie gegen Farbstoffe (z.B. Chinolingelb mit der E-Nummer E 104)!
- Das Arzneimittel enthält Alkohol und stellt somit ein Risiko für Leberkranke, Alkoholiker, Epileptiker, Hirngeschädigte, Schwangere, Stillende und Kinder dar.
- Vorsicht bei einer Unverträglichkeit gegenüber Saccharose. Wenn Sie eine Diabetes-Diät einhalten müssen, sollten Sie den Zuckergehalt berücksichtigen.
- Es kann Arzneimittel geben, mit denen Wechselwirkungen auftreten. Sie sollten deswegen generell vor der Behandlung mit einem neuen Arzneimittel jedes andere, das Sie bereits anwenden, dem Arzt oder Apotheker angeben. Das gilt auch für Arzneimittel, die Sie selbst kaufen, nur gelegentlich anwenden oder deren Anwendung schon einige Zeit zurückliegt.
