PENTATOP 100 mg Hard Capsules can be taken as a preventive measure to reduce the symptoms of food allergies. Symptoms include nausea, abdominal pain, digestive problems, tingling or itching in the mouth and throat. Food allergies result from an overreaction of the immune system to normally harmless food components. On contact with these food components, the body releases the messenger substance histamine from the so-called mast cells, which triggers the allergic symptoms. PENTATOP contains sodium cromoglicinate, a sodium compound of cromoglicic acid. Cromoglicic acid stabilizes these mast cells when taken regularly, so that less histamine is released and the allergic symptoms hardly occur or no longer occur.

Taking PENTATOP 100 mg Hard Capsules:

PENTATOP hard capsules should be taken 15 to 30 minutes before a meal. Children or people who have difficulty swallowing can open the capsule and dissolve the contents with a little hot water on a spoon. Rinsing in the mouth several times before swallowing is advisable for an already local effect. PENTATOP hard capsule should be taken regularly, at the same times of the day and as far as possible at equal intervals.

Children 2 to 14 years of age: 1 capsule 4 times a day.
Adolescents 15 years and older and adults: 4 times daily 2 capsules

How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient protects against an allergic reaction of the mucous membranes by stabilizing the outer shell of certain cells, so-called mast cells. If foreign substances such as pollen or animal dander enter the body and attach themselves to the envelope of a mast cell, it opens and a large number of the body's own messenger substances are released. These messenger substances activate the body's own defense mechanisms and as a result the affected mucous membranes become inflamed. Cromoglicic acid prevents this leakage.
However, the effect can only be used preventively; an acute attack cannot be treated with the substance.

Wie wirkt der Inhaltsstoff des Arzneimittels?

Der Wirkstoff schützt vor einer allergischen Reaktion der Schleimhäute, indem er die äußere Hülle bestimmter Zellen, so genannter Mastzellen, stabilisiert. Dringen Fremdstoffe wie Pollen oder Tierschuppen in den Körper ein und lagern sich an der Hülle einer Mastzelle an, öffnet sie sich und eine Vielzahl körpereigener Botenstoffen treten aus. Diese Botenstoffe aktivieren die körpereigenen Abwehrmechanismen und in der Folge entzünden sich die betroffenen Schleimhäute. Cromoglicinsäure verhindert diesen Austritt.
Die Wirkung kann allerdings nur vorbeugend genutzt werden, ein akuter Anfall kann mit dem Stoff nicht behandelt werden.
