Nystatin Holsten Suspension 24ml:

Oral thrush is an infection of the mouth and throat caused by yeasts (often Candida albicans). The fungus usually affects the inside of the cheeks and lips, as well as the tongue or throat. It can usually be recognized by the reddened mucous membranes that are covered in white. Nystatin Holsten Suspension helps quickly and reliably against the yeast and should be used for 2-3 days after the symptoms have subsided.

How to use?
Fungal infections in the oral cavity: Apply drops of the medicine to the oral mucosa. It is also advisable to swab the affected areas with a cotton bud previously dipped in the medicine. Then swallow the medicine.
Fungal infections in the oesophagus and gastrointestinal tract: Take the medicine undiluted.
Shake well before use.

Duration of use?
The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The duration of use should be at least 2 weeks. The duration of use should be continued for a few days after the symptoms have disappeared.

Overdose?
No overdose symptoms are known. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

Have you forgotten to take it?
Continue taking it as normal at the next prescribed time (i.e. not with twice the amount).

Pilzinfektionen in der Mundhöhle: Tropfen Sie das Arzneimittel auf die Mundschleimhaut auf. Es empfiehlt sich zusätzlich die befallenen Stellen mit einem vorher in das Arzneimittel getauchten Wattestäbchen zu bestreichen. Schlucken Sie das Arzneimittel anschließend hinunter.
Pilzinfektionen in der Speiseröhre und im Magen-Darm-Bereich: Nehmen Sie das Arzneimittel unverdünnt ein.
Vor Gebrauch gut schütteln.

Dauer der Anwendung?
Die Anwendungsdauer richtet sich nach der Art der Beschwerden und/oder dem Verlauf der Erkrankung. Fragen Sie dazu im Zweifelsfalle Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker. Wie wirkt der Inhaltsstoff des Arzneimittels?

Der Wirkstoff schädigt die äußere Hülle, die sog. Zellmembran von Pilzen. Diese Hülle verliert somit einen Teil ihrer Funktionen, Zellbestandteile treten aus und die Zelle kann sich auflösen. Je nach Wirkstoffkonzentration werden die Pilze dadurch in ihrem Wachstum und ihrer Vermehrung gehemmt oder direkt abgetötet.
