How to use?
Take the medicine whole with liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water).
Duration of use?
The medicine should only be used once per migraine attack.
Overdose?
An overdose can lead to a sharp rise in blood pressure, drowsiness, tension in the neck and tiredness. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.
As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.
A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information on the package leaflet. As the doctor will personalise it, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.
Dosage
The following dosage recommendations are given - the dosage for your specific condition is best discussed with your doctor:
For acute treatment - single dose:
Adults 1 tablet 1 tablet at the onset of the seizure
Within 24 hours, a 2nd dose may only be given after 4 hours at the earliest if symptoms recur.
Maximum dose: A dose of 2 tablets per day should not be exceeded.

How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?
The active ingredient comes into contact with special binding sites in the body, the so-called 5HT-1 receptors. This contact triggers the following reactions: the blood vessels dilated during a migraine contract again and the release of certain messenger substances that trigger pain and inflammation is stopped.

Contraindications NARATRIPTAN-1A Pharma for migraine 2.5 mg Film-coated tablet.
What speaks against an application?
Always:
- Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
- History of myocardial infarction
- Coronary heart disease (circulatory disorders of the heart muscle)
- Prinzmetal's angina (special form of angina pectoris)
- Circulatory disorders of the periphery (e.g. arms, legs)
- History of stroke
- Circulatory disorders in the brain region, also in the past (transient ischaemic attack)
- High blood pressure
- Severely impaired kidney function
- Severely impaired liver function
- Special forms of migraine (without headache), such as
- Familial hemiplegic migraine (long aura phase during which half-sided paralysis can occur)
- Basilar migraine (severe dizziness, speech and visual disturbances)
- Ophthalmological migraine (disorder of the eye muscles)
Under certain circumstances - talk to your doctor or pharmacist:
- High blood pressure
- Impaired kidney function
- Impaired liver function
- Possible risk of vasoconstriction of the heart, as in the case of
- Smoking
- Nicotine replacement therapy
- Increased fat concentration in the blood (especially cholesterol) in menopausal women and men over 40 years of age
- Obesity in menopausal women and men over the age of 40
- Diabetes mellitus (diabetes) in menopausal women and men over the age of 40
Which age group should be considered?
- Children and adolescents under the age of 18: The medicine must not be used.
- Elderly patients aged 65 and over: The medicine should not normally be used in this age group.
What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?
- Pregnancy: Consult your doctor. Various considerations play a role in whether and how the medicine can be used during pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor or pharmacist. They will check your particular situation and advise you accordingly as to whether and how you can continue breastfeeding.
If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk associated with the use of a contraindication.

What adverse effects can occur?
- Gastrointestinal complaints, such as
- Nausea
- vomiting
- dizziness
- tiredness
- drowsiness
- visual disturbances
- High blood pressure, which is temporary
- Accelerated pulse
- palpitations
- Decrease in pulse rate
- Sensory disturbances, such as
- tingling
- feeling of warmth
- Feeling of heaviness, pressure and tightness
- discomfort
- pain

What should you bear in mind?
- The ability to react may be impaired even when used as intended, especially at higher doses or in combination with alcohol. Pay particular attention if you are driving or operating machinery (including household machinery) that could injure you.
- Prolonged use of painkillers can lead to headaches caused by the painkiller. Talk to your doctor to prevent your headaches from becoming chronic.
- Take care if you are allergic to sulphonamides!
- Take care if you are allergic to binding agents (e.g. carboxymethylcellulose with the E number E 466)!
- Caution in case of allergy to colouring agents (e.g. indigo carmine with the E number E 132)!
- Take care if you are intolerant to lactose. If you have to follow a diabetes diet, you should take the sugar content into account.
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicine you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.
