LEVOCETIRIZIN beta tablets are used for symptom relief of allergies, hay fever, allergic rhinitis, and hives (urticaria). Symptoms of hay fever include watery, burning, itchy eyes, runny nose, and scratchy throat, and in hives, reddish, itchy welts on the skin. The active ingredient, levocetirizine, is the active part of cetirizine and acts as an H1 antihistamine, blocking the sites of action of histamine in the body that would otherwise trigger the allergic symptoms.

How LEVOCETIRIZIN beta is taken:

Children 6 years of age and older and adults may take 1 film-coated tablet 1 time daily. The tablets are taken as needed.

LEVOCETIRIZIN beta is well tolerated. Fatigue may occur as a side effect, but this is reported to be less common than with other medicines containing H1 antihistamines.

How does the active ingredient of the drug work?

The active ingredient helps to combat allergies and soothe itching. It suppresses the effect of histamine and prostaglandins, the body's own substances, in two ways: Firstly, it inhibits the release of the substances from mast cells (special defence cells) in the blood and tissues; secondly, it displaces the substances from their binding sites. As tissue hormones and messenger substances, histamine and prostaglandins play an important role in the development of inflammation and allergic reactions.

Wie wirkt der Inhaltsstoff des Arzneimittels?

Der Wirkstoff hilft bei Allergien und stillt den Juckreiz.
