KETOZOLIN 2% Shampoo can be used for therapy and prophylaxis of dandruff with redness and itching (seborrheic dermatitis) and pityriasis versicolor.
Seborrheic dermatitis presents with dandruff, redness and itching and is associated with the yeast Malassezia furfur. This yeast fungus occurs naturally on the skin, but under certain conditions it can spread strongly and this causes an inflammatory reaction of the skin - dandruff, redness and itching are the result. This can be aggravated by stress or even by the weather in winter.
Pityriasis versicolor can be recognized by small, lentil-sized, scaly, yellowish to brownish areas. This often occurs on the neck, chest, back, or on areas where skin is often next to skin (skin folds, armpits, groin area). In addition, the Kleienpilzflechte occurs more often in summer, because warm and humid air promotes fungal growth.
Both skin diseases can be treated with KETOZOLIN 2 % shampoo. The shampoo contains the antifungal agent ketoconazole, which fights the cause. In addition, the shampoo loosens dandruff, fights redness and relieves itching.
KETOZOLIN 2 % Shampoo can be used for both skin diseases for therapy or prophylaxis/prevention.
Therapy: massage into damp hair 2x per week, leave for 3 to 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly. The therapy lasts about 2 to 4 weeks.
Prophylaxis: apply every 1 to 2 weeks; for 3 to 6 months.
Apply 1x daily for 5 consecutive days to affected areas, leave on for 3 to 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Pre-summer prophylaxis: apply to the affected areas for 3 consecutive days, leave on for 3 to 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly
KETOZOLIN Shampoo 2% can be ordered online without prescription at arzneiprivat.
The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

How does the active ingredient in the medicine work?
When applied topically, the active ingredient ketoconazole damages the outer envelope, the so-called cell membrane, of fungi growing on the skin. This envelope thus loses some of its functions, e.g. it becomes more impermeable to nutrients - the cell starves. Depending on the concentration of the active ingredient, the fungi are inhibited in their growth and reproduction or they die directly due to additional damage to the cell interior.
